How it works
About Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a medication designed to mimic the effects of a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) by binding to GLP-1 receptors in the body. GLP-1 helps regulate blood sugar and appetite.
Semaglutide slows down the emptying of the stomach to create a sense of fullness, stimulates the production of insulin to regulate blood sugar levels, and suppresses the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar.
About Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is a dual-action medication that mimics the effects of two natural hormones involved in regulated blood sugar and appetite: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).
By binding to both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, Tirzepatide enhances insulin production when blood sugar levels are elevated, slows down the emptying of the stomach to create a feeling of fullness, and reduces glucagon secretion. In comparison to Semaglutide, it may have a stronger effect on reducing appetite.

Have the support you need to make the most of your medication: Research shows that 58% of patients discontinue weight loss medications before reaching a clinically meaningful health benefit due to side effects, cost, and confusion (Source). Having a provider on your side that you trust will help you stay the course.
Eventually, maintain your weight without medications: Many patients don't want to depend on medications forever. Your clinician will help you design a comprehensive plan that allows you to eventually roll off the medication without putting on the weight.
